Self-custody-friendly crypto exchanges
If you want to move crypto to your own wallet after buying, you need an exchange that actually supports direct withdrawal. Not all of them do, and the ones that do vary in cost, speed, and conditions.
What self-custody means here
Self-custody means you hold your own private keys. When you buy crypto on an exchange, the exchange holds it for you until you withdraw. Some exchanges make withdrawal straightforward. Others restrict it, delay it, or do not support it at all.
Augea tracks whether each exchange supports direct withdrawal to a user-controlled wallet. That is the core of what self-custody means for route choice: can you actually move your crypto off the exchange when you want to?
What Augea can measure today
Right now, Augea tracks self-custody support as a binary capability: does this exchange support direct withdrawal to your own wallet, or not? This is enough to filter exchanges that support self-custody from those that do not.
What Augea does not yet track at scale is withdrawal depth: hold periods, withdrawal speeds, minimum amounts, per-asset network support, and withdrawal fees. This data exists for some exchanges but is not yet comprehensive enough to rank or compare reliably.
Worth checking before you commit
An exchange that supports withdrawal does not automatically mean a smooth withdrawal experience. Some exchanges apply holds on new accounts, require additional verification before withdrawal, or charge fees that vary by asset and network. Check the withdrawal conditions directly on the exchange before you buy, especially if timely withdrawal matters to you.
What this does not evaluate
- Cheapest total cost on its own
- Recurring-buy suitability and drag
- Setup friction and verification burden
- Exchange trust, safety, or proof of reserves
- Withdrawal speed, hold periods, or fees (not yet tracked at scale)
